South Carolina trucking accidents are taking lives

In the blink of an eye, a loved one can be taken from us. An illness or car or trucking accidents can steal away those we love the most. The struggles and day-to-day life that seem so trivial at the time lose their importance once we no longer have a particular family member or dear friend to hold onto any longer. It is especially upsetting when those lost are the ones who make an impact on their communities and others within it, as one South Carolina woman did.

The victim in this recent car crash was a philanthropist who gave freely to local causes each year, not only within her current community but also to her native state. The army vet had five children and had divorced their father and married her high school sweetheart, who has since passed away. She had nearly beat cancer for a second time when the accident occurred. The responsible driver of a Mack truck was cited by the South Carolina Highway Patrol for disregarding a traffic signal.

The woman had been on her way to receive her last round of chemo shots when the Mack garbage truck hit the side of her vehicle. The incident occurred on March 10, 2017. Authorities were called to the scene -- not far from the victim's home -- around noon.

The loss of a loved one is devastating and often leaves a huge hole in the family unit. South Carolina law allows for the family members of someone who has been lost in fatal car or trucking accidents to file a wrongful death suit in a civil court. Compensation gained from a successful lawsuit can help cover a victim's final costs.
