South Carolina auto accidents creep up as weather turns

As the weather begins to turn warmer and the days grow longer, the lure of spring has many South Carolina motorists out and about. Exploring the beautiful change of the seasons and seeing trees and flowers bloom along scenic routes is just one of the many reasons for leisure drives along quiet back roads. Distracted or inebriated drivers pose a huge risk for auto accidents on beautiful spring days while operating a vehicle, to other motorists and to themselves.

On Sunday, March 12 around 7:16 p.m. authorities were called to the scene of an auto accident. A 34-year-old male was traveling south when the vehicle he was operating crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head on. Even though the driver of the offending vehicle was wearing a seat belt, the coroner reported his death as a result of blunt force trauma.

The driver of the vehicle traveling northbound was injured. He was transported to a local hospital where his injuries are being treated. Authorities are still investigating the incident.

Unfortunately, auto accidents continue to occur, whether due to road conditions, distracted drivers or drivers who may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Should the person believed responsible for the accident perish in the crash, an injured victim still has rights under South Carolina law. Seeking the aid of an attorney who understands the steps that could be taken to help secure the compensation the victim may be entitled to with a personal injury claim.
