Technology may help prevent drowsy driving

As South Carolina residents may be aware, driving while sleepy is a danger to both the motorist and those sharing the road at the time. According to statistics compiled by the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, drowsy driving contributes to approximately 25 percent of all fatal motor vehicle accidents on an annual basis.

OSHA updates National Emphasis Program on Amputations

South Carolina workers in certain industries may be interested to learn that the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has updated its National Emphasis Program on amputations. This update tells employers what policies and procedures should be followed to identify and reduce workplace hazards that could cause amputations.

Fatigue wasn't the only factor in Tracy Morgan crash, NTSB says

The last time we talked about the serious truck accident that injured actor and comedian Tracy Morgan and killed one of his colleagues was back at the end of June. In our post about the crash, we focused on the fact that driver fatigue was the likely cause of the crash as it had been reported that the truck driver who plowed into Morgan's limousine had not slept in more than 24 hours.
