Cell phone laws do not distract drivers from using devices

Driver arrested for DUI after causing bicycle accident

Pedestrians, including bicyclists, are virtually unprotected by road hazards. A drunk driver compounds these perils. A chilling bicycle accident in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina involving an allegedly impaired driver vividly illustrates these dangers.

South Carolina municipalities ban texting and driving

South Carolina and Montana are the only states that have not imposed any limits on using a cellphone or texting while driving. In the absence of any statewide ban, seven municipalities in South Carolina have taken the lead by prohibiting texting while driving.

Lawsuit filed for fatal hit-and-run crash

The estate of a bicyclist killed by a drunk driver filed a wrongful death action against the driver and five bars in Charleston, South Carolina. The bars allegedly have Dram shop liability for serving him during a seven-hour drinking binge before the drunk driving crash. Unspecified damages are sought for this hit-and-run accident along Savannah Highway near White Oak Drive.
