Woman dies in tragic pedestrian accident while raking

When thinking about the typical areas for a pedestrian accident to occur, several common incidents may come to mind: an unseen walker side-swiped at an intersection or perhaps a person on the shoulder of a road hit by a car. While the location of these accidents does not make them justifiable, it perhaps makes them more understandable. However, the same cannot be said for a recent accident that occurred in Greenville in which a woman was struck and killed by an out-of-control vehicle while she and her husband were raking leaves in their yard.

While raking outside her home in Greenville, a woman was struck by an SUV as it veered out of control and into her yard. She was transported to a hospital to receive treatment, where she later passed away from the injuries. While the exact reasons for the accident are currently unknown, it is known that the vehicle lost control and then careened into the yard as a result of an overcorrection.

As is the case with some common pedestrian accidents, the root cause of this accident appears to stem from inattention on the part of the driver, perhaps coupled with an unfortunate decision. If a negligent activity such as driving while intoxicated, speeding or texting while driving was involved, the family of the deceased victim may be able to make a legal claim for damages against the driver responsible for the accident.

As a consequence of these charges, the driver in this scenario may be held liable for certain financial consequences of his or her actions. This financial liability could extend to covering the cost of any medical expenses, pain and suffering and potentially even funeral costs in the event that a death occurs from the accident, such as in this case.
