5-year-old Greenville County boy injured in crash

A Greenville County motor vehicle accident involving a truck is not always the fault of the driver of the larger vehicle. Yet, the fact a truck was involved in the accident often results in serious injuries. While the injuries may have been a result of the impact with the truck, there are times the driver of the car is the negligent party. Regardless, of who is involved in an accident, when a child passenger is injured, often the first thought of concern is for his or her safe recovery.

Last month, a 5-year-old boy restrained in a child seat was seriously injured on White Horse Road in Greenville County after the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am in which he was riding collided with a truck.

Initial reports indicated that the 29-year-old female driver of the Pontiac cut in front of the truck, causing the truck to strike the right passenger-side of the car. There were four children riding in the Grand Am, and the three wearing seatbelts were not seriously injured. The car driver was cited for failing to yield the right of way to the truck. The children were all taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, and each driver was uninjured.

No information was immediately available concerning the relationship of the injured 5-year-old to the driver of the car.

When a passenger is injured in a car crash as a result of the negligence of the driver, personal injury law provides for the right to recover monetary damages from the negligent party for the injuries and for pain and suffering. Laws and procedures involving claims for injuries suffered in an accident often seem bewildering. Legal advice may help make some sense of a difficult situation in the pursuit of justice.
